About Me
Hi my name is Kate. I have worked predominately in the disability sector since I became a qualified Social Worker in 2001. I have gained my industry experience in the Bendigo area, working as a Case Manager within Disability Services, a Team Leader within Aged Care, a Community Support Worker providing links and education to people with Multiple Sclerosis, a Coordinator within a Disability organization, a Hospital Social Worker within inpatient rehabilitation and previous experience as a Specialist Support Coordinator. Prior to gaining my Social Work degree I worked for 20 years as a Nurse.
I am a self-proclaimed advocate for people who have a ‘disability’ and like to support each person to reach their potential while I continue to promote inclusion and acceptance. I have seen first-hand the disempowerment suffered by people with a disability which led me to write a children’s book named ‘Talk to ME!’ I thought, what better way to communicate a powerful message with the focus on children learning from a young age. To quote Scott Hamilton - “The only disability in life is a bad attitude.”
I look forward to working ‘with you’ to ‘support you’ to achieve your goals.
